Prenatal Massage (for pregnant women)

Prenatal massage is a manual therapy focused on comfort, unloading the body, and supporting nervous system regulation during the changes that occur in pregnancy. The session is carried out safely and adjusted to the stage of pregnancy, your current wellbeing, and your body’s needs. This is not “just a relaxing massage” — the goal is to reduce overload, improve circulation, and make everyday functioning easier.

Principles and Technique

During the session, I work gently but effectively — releasing overloaded areas without excessive stimulation. Most commonly, I address: the back, hips and pelvic area, glutes, neck and shoulders, legs (especially calves), and breathing support.
Positioning is chosen for comfort and stability (most often side-lying with supportive pillows), and pressure is always adapted to your sensitivity. When needed, I include elements of soft-tissue release, gentle mobilization, and simple breath/relaxation guidance to help the effects last longer.

Therapeutic Benefits

Prenatal massage supports both body and wellbeing:

  • Relief for the spine and pelvis – helps with tension and discomfort in the lower back, hips, and glutes.
  • Reduced neck and shoulder tension – especially when stress and posture changes build up.
  • Improved circulation and “lighter legs” feeling – supportive with swelling and heaviness in the legs.
  • Nervous system regulation – less stress, more calm, easier falling asleep.
  • Better breathing and greater comfort – release of the diaphragm and chest tension.
  • Emotional support – a safe space for the body to let go of held tension.

Contraindications

Prenatal massage is not appropriate in every situation. I do not perform the session, for example, in cases of: bleeding, acute inflammation, fever, pregnancy complications, severe swelling of unknown cause, suspected thrombosis, high-risk pregnancy, or when a doctor recommends activity restriction. If you are unsure, follow the guidance of your healthcare provider.

Summary

Prenatal massage is safe, practical support during pregnancy: it unloads the body, reduces tension, improves circulation, and helps the nervous system shift into recovery. It’s ideal if you feel overloaded, stressed, have back pain, pelvic tension, or heavy legs — and want real relief and calmer day-to-day functioning.
